Soy has been praised it's miracle effects for years and years now. But is it really as healthy as people make it out to be?

I've been looking into this for quite a while now and all I can find about the benifits of soy are answers like "Soy may have good effects on your health" or "Soy may be the cure to this/that type of cancer". Myself, I don't find answers containing "may" very reassuring so I looked into what's actually in soy.

Saponins: Saponins are defence substances wich protect the soy plant from being eaten. In combination with water they form soap. Saponins make sure the intestinal wall is letting more subtances in who normally wouldn't be absorbed. This can cause allergic reactions to food and endogenous substances and can even result in autoimmune diseases.
Heamaglutinin: This is also a defence substance in the soy plant. This will clot your red bloodcells, making them less able to transport oxygen.
Phytoestrogen: This is a lot like our own ostrogen. Which is great for women in menopause, but for the rest of us quite problematic. Men can become infertile, women get irregular periods and even worse: Children who drink soymilk will consume the same ammount ostrogen as 5 birth control pills.

It's time to stop poisoning ourselfs.
Even with a dairy allergy we still have other options like: Almond or rice milk and they even score higher on nutritions.
Whoo!

Now this line is pure love for the senstive skin!
100% natural and fragrance and alcohol free,

I've always had problems with finding the right product for my skin. From irritations, big swollen eyes to dry skin. All these problems disappeared when I started using Aloe Vera. My skin feels hydrated, soft and it gives me a natural glow. Where before my skin was really matte and dry. What really surprised me was that even the scrub is gentle. No irritations whatsoever.

Unfortunatly there still are a few products in this line I haven't tried yet.
But I definetely intend to!

What do you think of this line?
And what are your favourites?

Don't we all just hate it, those split ends? Especially when you're trying to grow your hair it can be very frustrating.

I've been a fan of Joico's products since I've first started using them 4 years ago. And I have to say this product is great! Ofcourse it doesn't magically make your split ends dissapear. You still have to cut your hair every now and then. But it does seal in a great part of the split and protects it from more splitting in the future.

Definitely worth to give it a try!

I've been bleaching my hair for 6/7 years now and I've always found it important to take the best possible care of my hair since bleached hair tends to be very fragile.

Argan oil has been on the market for quite a while now and has been described as a miracle oil for body, nails, hair and even for cooking. As a hairstylist I obviously wanted to get to know this product. After doing research on good argan oils and trying some I ordered premium cosmetic argan oil from Arganic. I immediatly fell in love with the product. Where other argan oils didn't quite work for me this one did. My hair felt stronger, thicker and it became a lot more shiny.

Argan oils come in various qualities. Just because the bottle says argan oil, it doesn't mean it's good argan oil. If it doesn't say "100% Argan Oil" or "100% Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil", you really don't want to pay for this product. But even if you do have 100% argan oil doesn't garantee you the best quality. If you want to make sure always get premium 100% argan oil.

It won't come cheap, but I'm telling you: Worth every cent!

We've all seen them. The glossy commericals about shampoo's. Promises of more volume, silky smoothness, shine and you can even buy them at your local supermarket! Sound great right? Well.. If only it was true.

The truth is that most supermarket shampoo's contain loads of bad ingredients. Some of these ingredients may actually seem to make your hair look great while they actually make the condition of your hair worse or even strip or change your haircolour.

Since most of the ingredients probably look like a foreign language to you, here's a list of ingredients you should avoid:
Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate / Sodium Laureth Sulfate / Sodium Lauryl Sulfate: These are harsh detergents and are found in almost all shampoo's (even professional shampoo's) In the long run this will strip your hair of natural oils wich it needs to stay healthy and grow. You can see how much is in your shampoo by how much it foams.
Sodium Chloride: Better known as table salt. It's used to thicken the shampoo. Side affects of this ingredient are loss or change of your haircolour, a dry and itchy scalp and hair loss. People who already have finer/heavily bleached hair should especially be carefull to avoid this.
Polyethelyne Glycol / PEG / Polyethelyne / Polyoxyethelyne: Strips hair and skin of it's natural oils. It's also used to thicken the shampoo.
Diethanolamine (DEA) & Triethanolamine (TEA): Causes scalp irritations, other allergic reactions and strips your hair of the body it needs. Wich results in brittle, dry and fragile hair.
Parabens (Example: Methylparaben & Propylparaben): Ingredients used to prolong the shelf life of the shampoo. They irritate the skin and cause hormonal imbalance wich can result in hair loss.
Propylene Glycol: Also known as anti freeze. (Yes, that's the same stuff you put in your car..) It's meant to stop the shampoo from freezing during shipping. Side affects are irritated skin, allergic reactions and altering of your skin structure.
Dimethicone: This is a sillicone meant to seal in moisture and smooth the hair. Since sillicone is not a natural product a lot of people get skin reactions and clogged pores. Your skin can't breathe anymore and bacteria and oils get locked in. This results again in irritations, acne and hair loss.
Formaldehyde: Long exposure to formaldehyde can cause hair loss.
Alcohol: When alcohol is listed as one of the first 4 ingredients there is more than the usual concentration in this shampoo. This means it will dry out your hair.

My advice to everyone is to get your shampoo at your hairstylist.
Yes, it might be a little more expensive. But wouldn't it be a shame if you just coloured your hair and it gets stripped out straight away? Besides, damaging your hair with these shampoo's might be irreversible in the long run and that would be a shame of perfectly great hair!
